From scouring the net, reviewing the umpteen tutor websites, listing out the potential tutors, investigating their skills to enquiring with neighbours. Phew! Parents do everything possible to find the best tutor for their children and it is indeed an exhausting task.

With ‘Tutorean’, parents can now sit back and relax. The platform uses artificial intelligence to enable parents/ students to connect with exceptional tutors, from the comfort of their homes. Lessons are booked online and take place face-to-face. Parents and students will have access to a carefully selected team of outstanding tutors nearby. They can look at their profiles, reviews, and contact the tutors for specific questions for free. Once a tutor has been chosen, a booking is securely made through ‘Tutorean’ website.

When tutors and students sign up to the platform, Tutorean asks them to take a brief questionnaire designed to measure 9 different characteristics related to learning preference and personality. Based on their responses, students and tutors are given advice on how to get the most out of their lessons together. In the near future, students searching on the platform will see a ‘similarity’ score for each tutor, driven by Tutorean’s matching algorithm.

“At the moment, tutoring is available for several subjects at GCSE, A-Level, IB or Degree Levels. New subjects will be added soon. The lessons are held in-person at a location agreed upon by the student and tutor. Online lessons are not currently supported,” says founder Pedro da Cunha.

The tutors are individually interviewed and rated by the Tutorean community. Further, they are subjected to background checks. Students or their parents get to only pay once the lesson is completed. For tutors, it’s a great opportunity to earn money and tap their teaching skills. The greatest advantage they have is the flexibility in terms of choosing their students, schedule and rate.

“Choices of the student, behaviour of the tutor, feedback and academic improvement will continually be used to teach our AI recommendation system what makes for a great tutor match-up. As we grow, so will our AI. We strive hard to ensure a good tutoring match and if students are not totally satisfied, we give them another lesson for free. Rather than a match made in heaven, it's a match made in Science", founder Pedro da Cunha adds.

The newly launched ‘Tutorean’ currently caters to London but will soon expand to rest of UK.
