Having been on track to win gold Jonny had not paced himself as he should have and his muscles had cramped up. This development gave Alistair Brownlee a crucial decision to make; he could have gone on to pass his brother and potentially take gold, but instead he opted to help his brother across the line in a true act of sportsmanship and brotherly love.
