MedExpress becomes the first registered pharmacy to offer the COVID-19 home testing kits compliant with Public Health England

As COVID-19 continues to have a global impact, online pharmacy MedExpress is offering much-needed home testing kits across the UK as a convenient and reliable option for those who are unable to access testing. MedExpress tests are fully compliant with Public Health England’s standards, the test will be available via MedExpress’ website.

From the start of the coronavirus outbreak, testing has been a key response for many countries to the pandemic and is crucial to stopping the spread of the disease. Testing ensures that those with coronavirus can be isolated and treated, helping to reduce the impact of the virus and allowing those who test negative and are able to return to work and avoid unnecessary distancing from members of their household. Currently, testing has been limited to patients who are hospitalised with serious symptoms and for key NHS workers and their households. MedExpress is giving the public access to these vital tests and home delivery offers a convenient option for members of the public who are self-isolating. By offering the MedExpress at-home test kits, essential workers, such as firefighters, pharmacists, non-NHS medical workers, care home workers can all return to work sooner.

Founder and CEO, Dwayne D’Souza comments, ‘There are currently over 93,000 known cases of coronavirus across the UK, but a vast amount of the population have not been tested and could be infected. There have been less than 20,000 tests conducted outside of the NHS critical workers and hospitals. We have made the test available to the public with the hope that we can help increase access to these vital tests and to allow members of the public to determine whether they have been infected.’

How do the at-home kits from MedExpress work?

  1. Up to five swab tests can be ordered by each customer from the MedExpress website and are sent to the customer with options for next day delivery nationwide or same-day delivery in London. MedExpress is selling tests from £175.00.
  2. The customer completes the swab test at home and sends it back to MedExpress using the pre-paid envelope.
  3. Customer samples will be analysed in a government-accredited laboratory and the customer will be notified of the results via SMS or email. Results can also be checked online using the customers MedExpress account and will take 2-3 days to receive.

About MedExpress

MedExpress was launched in 2013 by Dwayne D’Souza, offering prescription medicines through an online consultation process with next day delivery. Using his AI programming skills D’Souza created an efficient system of AI-assisted prescribing - equipment that works in tandem with medical professionals to create a system which is safe and effective. This means that all patient information, including past prescriptions, are rigorously cross-referenced to ensure they comply with prescribing guidelines such as the ones created by The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). MedExpress rapidly established itself as a leading online pharmacy offering a reliable and affordable service supported by clinical excellence and qualified MedExpress staff.
