John Constantine: Hellblazer fan film acts as rallying cry to unit fans.

News provided by Waking Dream Studios on Monday 1st Dec 2014

Midlands based independent filmmaking group, Waking Dream Studios, are giving the big guys a run for their money by producing an ambitious fan film based on the popular DC/Vertigo comicbook, John Constantine: Hellblazer, whose titular character is the basis for current US network, NBCs, big budget show, Constantine.

Made for a fraction of the cost of a single FX shot of the Constantine show, John Constantine: Hellblazer - The Soul Play was made by talented creators working for no pay. This all swearing, all smoking, all grifting tale of John Constantine is actually based in the Vertigo comic continuity, a few months after the cancelation based last issue of the series, with Waking Dream Studios' co-head, the film's writer/director, Richard Reynolds, hoping for it to be a rallying cry for fans of the series to get behind and have their voices heard by DC comics so that they might once again publish the much beloved Hellblazer comic.

The Waking Dream team believe their efforts are only strengthened with the inclusion of the short film's lead, Derby based actor/musician, David Chabeaux, who looks and portrays the iconic character more accurately than any version yet put to screen; along with numerous, subtle references to the comic's more than two and a half decade history.
