Market leading training providers ICON TRAINING will be joint sponsors of this years’ ukactive Summit, to be held on 7 November in London.
The theme of the Summit this year is "improving the health of the nation - it's everyone's business". The agenda will include speakers from public health, directors, retailers, manufacturers and parliamentarians. ukactive's main aim is to maintain partnerships as well as helping a broad range of organisations from a wide variety of industries, to understand their role and responsibility to improve the health of the nation by tackling inactivity.
On the day of the Summit, ICON TRAINING will be proudly holding a presentation entitled "Professionalising physical activity provision with Traineeships and Apprenticeships". The session will be led by Jon Thorn, Head of Business Development, National Apprenticeship Service.
The Traineeship purpose is to support 16-24 year olds in developing their skills, experience and qualifications to ensure that they are work ready and able to progress into Apprenticeships or employment. However, it is important that the programme provides high quality work experience and training as young people can sometimes become disillusioned with schemes if they do not feel they have a chance of a job once they have completed. To ensure that this does not happen, ICON TRAINING ask employers to co-inside Traineeship intake when they have vacancies for Apprenticeships or vacancies within their organisation.
ICON TRAINING recognises the difficulties employers face with recruitment; hiring the right staff to ensure long term retention is a big challenge, therefore Traineeships are an opportunity for employers to develop a targeted and efficient recruitment process. The programmes can be developed so that they deliver work ready individuals with relevant qualifications and experience within their organisation or sector.
