London based social entrepreneur Charlotte Grobien earns money for charity in a unique way – building houses and giving every penny of profit away. Having set up Give It Away Ltd. in 2005, she has given more than 1.1 million to charity and is aiming for the 1.5 million landmark with her current project.
Known as ‘The Handbag Developer’ for her glamorous style, she alone controls all aspect of the build and sales. Beneficiaries of donations are small local charities who support vulnerable children and young people in the Wandsworth area who have disabilities, learning problems, difficult home backgrounds and families who care for kids with terminal illnesses where there is also financial deprivation. Charlotte oversees all donations personally.
Charlotte is currently working on a new-build project of two large four bedroom detached houses on one plot in Woking, where she will be celebrating the build with a party (obviously in the theme of her trademark pink!) that press will be attending. She also has an upcoming liaison with No.10 Downing St through a charity financially supported by Give It Away, which would make for a fantastic photo opportunity.
This will interest your viewers/readers as Charlotte’s story is not the typical charity donor story; she is looking to bring a new angle to donating time and money for the benefit of children and young people in the local area.Charlotte is an engaging, warm, enthusiastic and animated lady who has extensive experience of radio interviews, television appearances and telephone enquiries about Give It Away. She is eloquent, professional, prepared and upbeat in all media liaisons.
