Later this month (April 2023) O’Malley will be leaving her Caribbean island home to spend a week behind the counter of The Open Book in Wigtown, Scotland.

“It was all a happy coincidence,” says O’Malley. “For ages I have been on the waiting list to run the store. I’d all but given up hope when an email dropped into my inbox, saying there had been a cancelation. Incredibly, the date being offered was the exact publication day of my new book.” With several dozen novels and more than three million sales, Tricia’s romance titles have previously been set in Ireland and the Caribbean.

However, a bout of Covid and a canceled honeymoon sparked the idea of a Scottish setting for the new book.

“I married my handsome Scotsman last year in Fife. We planned to honeymoon in Europe, but the dreaded Covid struck, scrapping our plans,” says O’Malley. “Instead, we spent a week recovering in a gorgeous little cottage near Inveraray. The mystical shores of Loch Fyne were ripe for story ideas, and I immediately started plotting a new book. The idea for an enchanted romance series set in Scotland just flowed and I’m already putting the finishing touches to book two.”

In Wild Scottish Knight, opposites attract in a modern-day fairytale when American, Sophie MacKnight, inherits a Scottish castle along with its resident hot grumpy Scotsman who is tasked with training her to be a magickal knight before the Kelpies wreak havoc on the people of Loren Brae. Delightful banter, sizzling romance, and quirky characters make this book a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy steeped in magic and myth.

On Sunday April 30th, O’Malley will host a book signing as part of Wigtown’s Spring Festival, followed by a week of running the bookshop. As well as launching the new title and embracing the life of a bookseller, Tricia promises visitors to the bookshop that kilts, bad jokes, and perhaps even a knight in shining armor will be part of the celebrations across the week. For her fans who can’t make it to Wigtown, Tricia will be hosting live streams and video updates on her social media channels as she embraces her dream of running a bookstore.

Tricia O’Malley is a NY Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of fun, addictive, magical romance. O’Malley splits her time between the Caribbean and Scotland and discovers her inspiration on the go.
