Vauxhall strengthens links with Autogreen

News provided by Pressat Wire on Friday 13th Jun 2014

Vauxhall Motors Ltd has announced it has signed a new long term, comprehensive contract with vehicle recycling company Autogreen.

The contract ensures that all Vauxhall vehicles handled by Autogreen that have reached the end of their life are disposed of and recycled using the very latest, most environmentally friendly methods and meeting the legislative requirements set out in the European End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive.

Vauxhall has been working with recyclable materials (recyclates) in its vehicles since 1990 and now thanks to its Design for Recycling strategy, more than 200 recyclates are used across the range allowing it to use 45,000 tons of recycled materials in new vehicles every year.

Vauxhall also participates in Autogreen’s Rewarding Recycling campaign which means that not only can customers gain reassurance their vehicle is being disposed of in the best way possible, they can also make some money on it, depending on their location.

All customers need to do is visit the Rewarding Recycling website and type in their registration and postcode and they will get an instant quote for their vehicle which will be collected from home or possibly their nearest Vauxhall Retailer.

“Vauxhall is delighted to continue the successful partnership with Autogreen not only does it ensure we are well placed to meet the new End-of-Life Vehicle regulations that come into force in 2015 but it also shows our commitment to reducing waste and pollutants, conserving resources and recycling materials at every stage of the product lifecycle,” said Ian Allen, Vauxhall’s Regulatory Affairs Manager.

Autogreen have been Vauxhall’s sole service provider since early 2005; recycling over 1.25 million vehicles to date, through their network of 130 recycling facilities located throughout the UK.

The European End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive introduced in the year 2000 states that vehicles in each Member State must achieve a minimum recycling / recovery target of 85%. From January 2015 on, this target will increase to 95%.
