The Blackheath and Greenwich Group of Amnesty International is holding its annual clearance book sale on Saturday 19 November at the Church of the Ascension, Dartmouth Row, London SE10 8BF. Doors will open at 10am.


This is a regular event, much loved by the local community and buyers from further afield. The church is filled with high-quality books at low prices. It is 10 minutes’ walk from Lewisham National Rail and DLR Stations.

Chair of the Group, Simon Ware, looking forward to the event says:

“The quality of books – many of which are brand new – is very high. There will be a wide variety of bargains to be found, from second-hand paperbacks to review copies of recently published novels. At our clearance book sale this year all books will be half their marked price for the whole day”.

The group’s book sales, said to be legendary by many who attend them, are Amnesty International UK’s most successful fundraising event organised by a local group, raising £300,000 over the past 40+ years. They are so popular that there is always a queue of people waiting for the doors to open.
The book sale will include the opportunity to sign petitions and letters for the group's campaigns. Amnesty International works worldwide to protect men, women and children wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied.
