Mosaic LGBT+ Youth Summer Camp will take place for the third year, this time in Wales near Snowdonia national park, offering participants tranquil surroundings to part take in camp activities.
Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre founded the Mosaic LGBT Youth Summer Camp in order to support, educate and inspire those young persons who might not have access to local youth group or whom simply need a time away from it all. 2017 is a third year the camp will be run by an experienced multidisciplinary team offering great activities alongside games and social time just to keep the balance right.
The idea has been born out of the fact that Camp's are extremely popular and particularly beneficial to young LGBT persons who still are far too often victims of abuse at home, school and in public spaces. It is therefore even more important to get away to recharge resilience and create supportive, affirming networks.
Mosaic LGBT Youth Summer Camp is an experience like no other, 25 young persons from across the UK will spend a week together in a residential centre in Wales taking part in workshops, cooking together while making friends and exchanging experiences reducing isolation by developing the sense of belonging.
Mosaic LGBT Youth Summer Camp is the UK's only camp that caters to young lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans population. It is unique as a Camp as it is not focused on typical outdoor pursuits like rock climbing or abseiling, but instead, focuses on LGBT curriculum and learning through fun, non-competitive activities.
Last years participants described it as:
'extraordinary', 'fun' and 'the best summer of my life'. We do aim to create a great atmosphere that will make your Summer break extraordinary. We also plan to go to Manchester Pride on the last day!
