  • BFRS National Careers Fairs are an extremely successful and integral part of the British Forces Resettlement Service, aimed at connecting military service-leavers with careers in civilian life.
  • The BFRS bespoke Careers Fair connects a diverse group of national and international Forces friendly employers with Service-Leavers looking to start civilian careers.
  • The first BFRS National Careers Fair event of 2023 takes place on 16th February at Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, Aldershot, GU11 2LQ.

BFRS works closely with exhibitors, some of which are members of the Armed Forces Covenant to actively promote civilian career paths, training courses and available roles. With an available work force of over 38,000 BFRS registered Service-Leavers to include Active members, Reservists, Veterans and Military families the help available from BFRS seeks to make a far smoother resettlement period.

Attendees can explore a very wide spectrum of opportunities available in many different industry sectors. This event allows attendees to not only meet and speak with prospective employers but also to gain a greater insight into how the unique skill sets of the Armed Forces Community (AFC) can enhance and add value to civilian job roles.

BFRS National Careers Fair also offers attendees the opportunity to access potential (ELC Approved) training providers, which will not only help them utilize the skills already gained in service but enhance them going forward. With over 600 training courses on offer on the BFRS website access to gaining those additional qualifications is easy.

This event is sponsored by the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) who support Service-Leavers with their ongoing free vocational training to enable a career in scaffolding.

What do logistics, a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy and Morson Group have in common?

Morson Group has a long track record of supporting ex-forces personnel as they look to build a career outside of the armed forces. For some people, this involves a complete departure from the armed forces world, but for others, this involves taking a technical role within it.

RAY BROCK:  Ray Brock is an ex-servicemen who has benefitted from being redeployed within Morson Technical Services. We asked each of him to tell us about his story so far.  Ray Brock served in the Royal Navy for 28 years and held numerous Logistics Roles as a Rating and as a Naval Officer. He joined the Royal Navy as a Store's Accountant and retired as a Lieutenant Commander.

Ray joined Morson Group in 2016 in his current role as a Logistics Manager in direct support of Royal Navy and Army rotary aviation at RNAS Yeovilton. “The transition from a long service career into civilian life can be tough and finding a new role that uses the skills you established over those years is essential” “Morson Group gave me that opportunity in a friendly environment and I knew they would help me achieve success. My previous experience in the Royal Navy gave me the tools to fulfil a second career but it was Morson Group who were able to help find me the perfect position” Morson Group have fantastic opportunities across a wide spectrum of industry sectors!

Harry Dean, founder and CEO of BFRS, says:

“At BFRS we have successfully implemented many National Careers Fair events over the last 13 years and have been instrumental in helping bridge the careers gap for Service-Leavers, Veterans, Military families and the wider Armed Forces Community (AFC)”

“2022 saw BFRS exceed our expectations and we have been able to help over 38,000 registered (AFC) members. We have worked with over 700 Forces friendly companies, not only helping give Service-Leavers a smooth transition into civilian life but also assisting companies fill roles with highly skilled personnel”

“We are extremely proud of our achievements to date and are looking forward to expanding on this going forward into 2023”

Therefore, all the services BFRS deliver are open to Service Leavers, Reserve Forces, Veterans, civilian MOD employees, as well as partners and families, and it doesn't matter how long or how long, ago people served. BFRS offer an ongoing service.

Please note: BFRS is a social enterprise organisation, not a registered charity.
