Suitcase Stresses This Summer - a Third Would Consider Paying Someone to Pack for Them!

Almost half of British travellers find holiday packing stressful -Skyscanner launches packing guide

With the Summer holiday season in full swing, travellers up and down the country are dusting off their suitcases and packing for their summer holiday. However, with 40% of British travellers admitting to having forgotten to pack something, it is not surprising that almost half of us (46%) find packing for holidays stressful. In fact, a quarter of those who find it stressful try to get someone else to do it for them, while a whopping 33% would consider paying someone to pack for them!

The survey₁, carried out by global travel search engine Skyscanner looked into the packing habits of the UK travellers and showed that whilst the majority of British travellers (44%) pack one or two days in advance, one in seven (15%) start packing two weeks or more in advance of travel - although we might not be very good at it as over half (55%) admit to over packing.

It was also revealed that women find packing more stressful than men (57% v 39%) and while they are likely to start pack further in advance than men (39% of women start packing seven days or more in advance, compared to just 25% of men), it appears that it does not make them any more organised, with 42% of women having forgotten something, compared to just 36% of men.

When looking at the regions, those in the South West are more last minute with a third packing the day before and the Welsh, who were the most stressed region when it came to packing are more likely to be packing 1-2 weeks in advance. Those living in the North East would be more likely to pay someone to pack their case for them (24%) but those living in Yorkshire & Humberside are more likely to ask a partner or relation to pack their case.
