Specialist insurance broker supports drive your classic to work week

News provided by Pressat Wire on Wednesday 10th Sep 2014

Employees at one of the UK’s leading classic car insurance brokers drove their classic cars into work today, Wednesday 10 September, in support of Drive Your Classic to Work Week.

Staff at West Midlands based Footman James are supporting the initiative, which takes place between 6 and 14 September.

The initiative, which was instigated by Classic Car Weekly, and is now in its fourth year, aims to show the wider public how classic owners keep the nation’s motoring heritage alive by using their cars on the daily commute.

The classic cars that enjoyed the open road into Footman James’ headquarters in Cradley Heath this morning included:

  • MiniPenny, a 1989 Austin Mini Mayfair, 998cc with a registration plate of F41 XHB. With a wavy checked roof, 13 inch Superlights and Open British Classic Anniversary interior, MiniPenny is much loved by her owner Paige Flavell-Wood;
  • A 1971 VW Camper, christened Clarence by his owner, Lee Fowkes;
  • Kermit – a Java Green Austin Mini 1000 form 1979 – is owned by Anthony Hall.
  • An Austin Mini Mayfair, called Poppy, from 1989 owned by Beth Ellis.

David Bond, Footman James’ Director said: “We thoroughly support such initiatives which bring classic cars out into the public arena. Many of our employees are classic enthusiasts themselves so what better way to show them off by supporting such a fantastic initiative! We encourage all enthusiasts to ensure they have the relevant cover in place for driving to work; such cover is offered by Footman James as part of our FJ+ suite of products.”
