London, the UK – Peter Paduh, the founder of SocialBox.Biz, a London-based technology social enterprise entity that works with homeless, elderly, and refugees in obtaining working laptops and internet access, this week was named the Social Entrepreneur of the Year at the Social Impact Awards for 2017, hosted by New York’s SocialMe University.
As an international award recognising those making positive impacts on their local communities, SocialBox.Biz was selected for their steadfast support and continued charitable commitment to making digital access easier for those that need it the most.
“SocialBox.Biz’s Peter Paduh seemed like the logical recipient for such an esteemed humanitarian award,” commented the award judges from SocialMe University. “He works tirelessly to obtain working laptops from firms that are replacing them, arranges to revamp them and re-home them to those who really need them in the UK. We are excited to announce his official recognition. Life these days is very difficult without access to a computer and internet”
Peter grew up in a children’s home and foster care in London after arriving as an unaccompanied refugee child. The social entrepreneur recalls a time in his life when receiving a computer during his teen years changed his life.
“Today, I want to support those like me who have nothing and no one,” said Peter. “A computer is the key to the world today, and we strive to make those handovers as easy as possible.”
