This week, London digital inclusion and laptop donation platform, SocialBox.Biz, was in attendance for the official launch of JUSTICE’s Working Party report.
Based on the topic of digital exclusion for large groups of people living without access to technology today, the report focuses on reforms in England and Wales to make digital involvement easier for marginalized parties. The Working Party looked at various groups in high risk of digital exclusion for modernized justice systems, and consulted with SocialBox.Biz to discuss new solutions.
Lord Briggs, Supreme Court Judge, and other legal experts were in attendance for the finalization of the report. Lord Briggs worked to ensure that access to judges is still available to everyone, even if they cannot access the “online court” feature today.
“Since our founding, we have been working to curb the rate of digital exclusion in our country, which can prevent individuals from registering for services, classes, jobs, and connecting with loved ones back home,” said Peter Paduh, Founder of SocialBox.Biz. “As technology advances, these individuals are being left in the dust. We were proud to contribute to something as educationally powerful as the latest JUSTICE report.”
In total, the JUSTICE report makes 19 recommendations, some of which include: greater investment in people, considering challenges that prevent internet access, placing special emphasis on homeless and detainees, redesigning online justice services with an independent look and feel, and making data more readily accessible.
SocialBox.Biz has recently released more initiatives to coincide with their Laptops for the Homeless, Elderly, and Refugee initiatives. The social impact venture has also added now digital inclusion initiative for long-term unemployed and looked after children.
