Retreat Hair Studio opens at St Andrew’s Hospice

St Andrew's Hospice is pleased to announce a new facility available at its Peaks Lane premises called The Retreat Hair Studio.

To enable the continued well-being of patients, family, careers, volunteers and staff including the general public the hospice has now got a studio, in which hairdressing and basic nail services are being delivered.

Currently open on Mondays and Wednesdays, the team are on hand to give advice, guidance and most of all a ‘feel good’ service to you or someone you know.

Salon manager, experienced stylist Nicki Chaplin, has worked at some of the top UK styling and beauty shows and is a former head of department for hair and beauty at the Grimsby Institute.

She said: “We’re all about making others feel good and being able to make people sparkle.

“It is amazing to be part of the latest venture at the hospice – our services are open to all and we have a full range of hair and nail services.

“We invite anyone to come down, have a look at the quiet, friendly and inviting Retreat Studio, maybe stay and have a coffee in The Hub or browse in the onsite gift shop.

“Appointments advisable but not always necessary.”

Sharon Connor is one of the studio’s regular customers and she spoke about the lovely and friendly atmosphere in the Retreat.

“It is always very welcoming and always a great service from Nicki,” she said.

“She does a really good job; I like to come to the hospice to support in general, as a family member was a patient here.

“I cannot imagine myself going anywhere else now and I like that I can have an evening appointment if I wish.”

For Mandy Arter, whose child uses the hospice for respite care, the studio provides a welcome addition to the charity’s services.

She said: “Nicki at the Retreat Hair Studio does a wonderful job of my hair.

“Not only does it feel fabulous but it makes me feel like Mandy again and not just 'Mum'.

“I really enjoy the services at the studio, I can relax and have time for me.”

A loyalty card scheme and gift vouchers are also available from the studio, with customers at St Andrew’s retail outlets in North East Lincolnshire, also able to pick up a 10% discount voucher for the studio from their local store.

The studio is also looking for volunteers and Nicki is asking anyone interested to get in touch.

She added: “If you are interested in volunteering with us, book an appointment and come down and see the studio, ask questions and see what you could possibly do to help give people that ‘sparkle’ back.”
