Pudding Parlour Partners Up With Sick Children’s Trust To Get Chocola-Tea

News provided by The Sick Children's Trust on Tuesday 14th Mar 2017

North East dessert boutique, The Pudding Parlour, is teaming up with The Sick Children’s Trust to get chocola-tea to raise money for families with seriously ill children in hospital.

The Pudding Parlour, based in Prudhoe and with stores also in Newcastle upon Tyne and Morpeth, has been named the charity’s regional partner for its Big Chocolate Tea campaign. Big Chocolate Tea is The Sick Children’s Trust biggest annual fundraiser which raises money to support families with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation when their children are seriously ill in hospital. The charity runs two ‘Homes from Home’ in Newcastle upon Tyne, supporting families with sick children at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) and Freeman Hospital.

The dessert connoisseurs will be asking their customers to take part in Big Chocolate Tea during the last week of April in support of The Sick Children’s Trust. Customers can take part by requesting a free fundraising pack and holding an event with their favourite sweet treats and home bakes. The money raised from Big Chocolate Tea will provide free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation for families so they can stay together just minutes from their seriously ill child’s hospital bedside. Kristy Giblin, co-owner of The Pudding Parlour says:

“We are proud to be supporters of Big Chocolate Tea. As massive fans of all things chocolate here at The Pudding Parlour, we're the first to advocate for a chocolate-filled event, but more importantly we know what a fabulous cause it's for! During the last week in April there will be special offers, freebies and Big Chocolate Tea themed cupcakes and treats of which all profits go to The Sick Children’s Trust.

“For many years, I have been involved with fundraising for Crawford House which is one of The Sick Children’s Trust’s ‘Home from Home’ in Newcastle. And as a business, Greg and I both decided to nominate The Sick Children’s Trust as our chosen charity as we know how amazing it is, and what a wonderful support the ‘Homes from Home’ are to families with children in hospital.”

The Sick Children’s Trust runs free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation across the UK, supporting families with seriously ill children in hospital. While accommodation is provided free of charge to families, it costs the charity £30 to support a family for one night.

Last year, Big Chocolate Tea raised £60,000 which gave 2,000 families free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, keeping them together when it matters most. The Sick Children’s Trust hopes this year’s campaign will be an even greater success. Campaigns and Appeals Manager, Caroline O’Doherty says:

“We’re delighted to announce The Pudding Parlour as our official regional partner for the North East and we can’t wait to work together on all things chocola-tea.

“Big Chocolate Tea is our biggest annual fundraising campaign and such a lot of fun. Individuals up and down the country will be taking part to support thousands of families, keeping them close to their seriously ill child while they undergo lifesaving treatment in hospital. By getting involved with Big Chocolate Tea this April and raising at least £30, you could support a family for one night at a ‘Home from Home’ at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary or Freeman Hospital.”

Supporters can choose to take part in Big Chocolate Tea at any point during the year and will receive a free fundraising pack full of goodies to hold the perfect event. For more information and to request your pack, please visit: http://www.sickchildrenstrust.org/bigchoctea.
