Praya Palazzo Boutique Hotel in Bangkok Celebrating Two Year Anniversary

News provided by Praya Palazzo Co. Ltd on Friday 20th Jul 2012

Praya Palazzo, historical Boutique Hotel in the heart of Bangkok, is coming up to its second anniversary. It is now inviting travelers to visit and see what is so special about it. Praya Palazzos intimate setting across the Chao Phraya River makes it the perfect holiday destination for visitors looking for genuine relaxation.

Dating back to the ancient kingdom of Siam, when Bangkok was called The Venice of the East, the mansion was built to be the home of a noble of the Court, Praya Chollabhumipanich. He lived here with his wife and their 10 children - all named by the Queen - until 1946 when the family moved to Sukhumvit area, the main means of transportation having changed from waterways to road.

The mansion then was turned into a boarding school and later a vocational school, where exchange of knowledge was at its core. In 1996, the school closed due to financial difficulties and the residence was abandoned.

After a decade left to decay, the old paladio attracted the attention of Assistant Professor Khun Wichai Pitakvorrarat, who had been looking at it from across the river. Convinced of its value and potential, Khun Wichai teamed up with his wife to renovate the building in 2006. It was an expensive and difficult undertaking because meticulous work was needed to conserve the architecture and original designs. By August 2010, Praya Palazzo was restored to its former glory and was ready to be displayed in its latest and arguably greatest incarnation: a 17-room luxurious boutique hotel bangkok.

Praya Palazzo received three awards in 2011, as recognition of its value: the Best Conservation Award (The Association of Siam Architects), the Gold Award for Thematic Idea & Culture and the Gold Award for Architecture and Design (both by the Thailand Boutique Awards).

Even though Praya Palazzo is only a short distance from the heartbeat of Bangkok, it is located on the other side of the river and is only accessible by boat, affording guests the best of both worlds: haven of tranquility and a fantastic escape from the city madness but also easy access to its attractions (the Grand Palace, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Arun, Chinatown, and Kao San Road).

With its original design and rare history, the residence will make you feel as if you went back in time, living during the golden period of Siam.
