New Public Space Unveiled At Castleward

News provided by Pressat Wire on Thursday 30th Jul 2015

The developer behind Derby's £100 million Castleward project has marked an important milestone, as it officially opened its impressive new public square in the city centre this week.

Compendium Living celebrated the grand opening of Liversage Square by hosting a Marketing Derby breakfast event at which local business representatives were among the first to see the impressive new open space. The event also marked a year since the launch of the development.

Situated off the new tree-lined boulevard, which links the railway station to the city centre, and extending to nearly an acre the public space has now created a new gateway for residents, visitors and commuters, as well as becoming a focal point for the city centre development.

The square retains a number of mature trees, as well as featuring newly planted trees, artworks and a new children's play area. There are plans for a new coffee shop with outdoor seating for customers to enjoy the new environment.

The Castleward project has received support from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) who have provided £1.7m in funding, as well as Local Enterprise Partnership, D2N2 who have also supported the project.

Councillor and Deputy Leader for Derby City Council, Martin Rawson officially opened the new public square and guests were invited for a tour around the development and its show homes on the day of the event.

Martin Rawson said: "It was fantastic to be a part of another stage of this brilliant development for the city centre. The new open space is truly impressive and I was pleased to be officially opening it in front of local businesses and stakeholders."

In total, Castleward will see 30 acres of land between Derby Midland Station and the city centre developed into an attractive gateway into the heart of Derby and will feature 800 new homes and 34,550sqft of commercial space.

Dave Bullock, Managing Director at Compendium Living said: "We were delighted with the turnout on the day. As a landmark project for Derby, it was important for us to share this significant milestone with members of the local business community.

"We believe the new Castleward development will bring major benefits to the city and for those living in it."

Work on phase one is already underway, which covers approximately five acres of land and will see the creation of 164 new homes, approximately 16,500sqft of commercial space, a boulevard and a new park.

A selected number of two, three and four-bedroom homes are now available to buy at Castleward. For more information visit the show home and marketing suite, open every day from 10am to 5pm. Alternatively, call 01332 426156 or go to www.castleward.co.uk.
