Lanes Group Plc announce five year partnership with The Sick Children’s Trust

Nationwide drainage company Lanes Group Plc has selected The Sick Children’s Trust as a charity partner in order to help provide free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation for more families with seriously ill children in hospital.

The Sick Children’s Trust runs ten ‘Homes from Home’ across the country, supporting families with some of the UK’s sickest children undergoing treatment in specialist paediatric hospitals.

Following a staff nomination, the independent drainage contractor selected The Sick Children’s Trust to benefit from its new charity programme, which supports five charities for five years. Michelle Ringland, Head of Marketing, says:

“We’re delighted to announce that The Sick Children’s Trust is one of the five charities we will be working with over the years to come. This charity has a personal link to us as one of our employees and their family has been directly helped by the charity’s free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation while their child was seriously ill in hospital.

“Having found out more about The Sick Children’s Trust’s work, including the location of the free ‘Homes from Home’ and the families the charity supports, we feel we can make a positive impact on the communities in which we operate.

“Working with charities over a five year partnership is a unique approach, and we believe that by doing this we can really get to know the charities and make a lasting difference.

“All our fundraising is employee-led, and everyone at Lanes Group Plc thoroughly enjoys getting involved. We are hoping to raise £2,000 every year for each charity, which I know will help The Sick Children’s Trust provide over 300 nights of accommodation in a ‘Home from Home’.”

The Sick Children’s Trust relies completely on voluntary donations to keep its ten ‘Homes from Home’ running. Although the accommodation is free of charge for families, it costs the charity £30 to support a family for one night. The charity’s Regional Fundraiser in Yorkshire, Cassandra Hughes, says:

“Every year, we support around 4,000 families with seriously ill children in hospital, but there is increasing demand for our services as children survive terrible accidents and illnesses and travel longer distances to access the lifesaving care they need. Thanks to this partnership with Lanes Group Plc, we hope we can be there for even more families, keeping them together by their sick child’s hospital bedside.

“Lanes Group Plc works across the UK, but is also based in locations where we provide vital ‘Home from Home’ support, so we are looking forward to giving employees the chance to experience first-hand the different their fundraising will make to families’ lives.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as a charity partner and were very moved to hear that a family we had supported in the past has remembered us and introduced us to the company. I would like to thank Lanes Group Plc for their support and commitment and am excited about working together over the next five years.”
