Homebuilders Donate £1000 To Cure Rett Charity

News provided by Pressat Wire on Thursday 11th Jun 2015

Local homebuilders Barratt and David Wilson Homes have each donated £500 towards a charity which supports sufferers of a rare condition and their families, and seeks to help find a cure.

The developers, who are constructing a new community at Hollygate Park in Cotgrave, decided to contribute to the cause when they were approached by local representatives of Cure Rett shortly after announcing their intention to build there.

Cure Rett is a charity that aims to boost research into a cure for Rett Syndrome, a genetic disorder which tends to affect girls and can impact upon nearly every aspect of a child's life, meaning 24 hour care is often needed.

Hollygate Park neighbours Cotgrave Country Park, where an annual running event called Run For Her Life takes place, with the aim of raising funds towards Cure Rett.

Louise Wainwright, a research technician from Loughborough whose daughter Georgia has Rett Syndrome, said; "This was a very generous donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes, which will go a long way towards research into Rett Syndrome, and help support families of people who suffer from it.

"Georgia's condition is not as severe as that of other girls, so we don't need as much support, but other people will hopefully feel the benefits of this contribution."

John Dillon, Managing Director for Barratt Homes North Midlands, said; "We endeavour to build communities as well as new homes, and we take our responsibility to contribute to local causes very seriously."

John Reddington, Managing Director of David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said; "We hope our donation will help scientists in their work to find a cure for Rett Syndrome, and go towards improving the quality of life of those who suffer from it."

Hollygate Park is a 'built for life' development on the site of the former Cotgrave Colliery and is part of the Cotgrave regeneration project, which aims to transform the Nottinghamshire village.

Located on Hollygate Lane, this is a development with plenty of open spaces and walks through neighbouring Cotgrave Country Park and along Grantham Canal.
