Hawaii Ukulele Virtuoso 'Taimane' to play rare UK performance

News provided by Duke of Uke on Wednesday 8th May 2019

Duke of Uke, London’s World Famous Ukulele Store and Grand Northern Ukulele Festival have teamed up to bring Hawaii Ukulele Virtuoso Taimane to UK audiences. The show will be part of a sell-out tour to support her new Elemental album release.

As a one-night-only performance, this is a rare opportunity to experience Hawaii’s ukulele virtuoso, songwriter and rising star, Taimane, as she brings her full palette of artistic colour to Bush Hall, London.

Taimane was prominently featured in Episode One of Martin Clunes' 2019 ITV documentary series, 'Islands of America’, and press described Martin as being “gobsmacked” by Taimane’s performance. Among her many fans, Pierce Brosnan concurs: "Taimane rocks the stage with a sensual vibrancy and a white hot talent that captivates and beguiles!”

Born and raised in Hawaii of Hapa Samoan descent, Taimane is renowned for her jaw dropping pyrotechnics on the four-string island staple. Discovered by legendary musician Don Ho at age 13 and mentored by ukulele artist Jake Shimabukuro, she quickly became a Youtube sensation with over 10 million video views.

2017 and 2018 were breakout years for Taimane, and she’s on track to experience her greatest rise yet. Taimane kicked off this year presenting concerts in New York at the largest performing arts gathering in the world and gained major praise and buzz. She is currently modelling for All Saints fashion brand in their new “Hawaii New Waves” campaign.

In March, Taimane and her band performed at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX playing to roaring crowds and receiving rave reviews from a wide range of industry players and media including NPR's Bob Boilen.

Taimane is poised to share her music and vision of Hawaii with the world. Experience her beauty, grace and passion and see why Taimane is quickly becoming a global cultural beacon.

Taimane plays Bush Hall on Thursday 6th June, with her Trio featuring Jonathan Heraux (percussion) and Ramiro Marziani (classical guitar). Advance tickets available at seetickets.com
