Extraordinary exhibitions in Paris and Lille

As summer draws to a close, some of the major arts venues in Paris and Lille are getting ready to welcome visitors for the new exhibition season. And with subjects ranging from Renaissance portraits to modern art, Egyptian legends to happy occasions, there truly is something for everyone. Exhibitions start in September or October and run until early 2016.

Enjoy art the Warhol way at the Modern Art Museum, Paris

On show at the capital's Musée d'Art Moderne from Oct 2 to February 7 2016, Unlimited highlights the serial side of Andy Warhol's output and his ability to rethink the way art should be exhibited. The museum was the setting for the first European showing of Shadows (1978-79) in their entirety, 102 silkscreened canvases of 17 different colours totalling 130 metres in length. Now Shadows are joined by other series that invite viewers to let themselves be submerged by the sheer quantity of works – another example of how Warhol's art has always pushed the boundaries. http://www.mam.paris.fr/en/expositions/exposition-warhol

Discover an Egyptian legend at the Institute of the Arab World, Paris

The Lost Mysteries of Osiris is the intriguing subject for a new exhibition staged by the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris from 8 September to 31 January. On show are 250 objects salvaged from underwater excavations by archaeologist Franck Goddio, plus more than 40 objects lent by the museums of Cairo and Alexandria. Son of the Earth and the Sky, Osiris was killed by his brother who threw his dismembered body in the Nile, but was put back together by the divine powers of Isis. This exhibition will plunge visitors into the heart of the cult ceremonies that grew up around him.
