News provided by Institute of Business Ethics on Friday 24th May 2019

The IBE, which was formed in 1986 to encourage high standards of business behaviour based on ethical values, provides practical guidance to those involved in developing and promoting business ethics including senior business people and ethics practitioners through our research programme.

The IBE carries out research and surveys into business ethics issues and the ways that organisations and their employees can effectively embed ethical values into their practice and decision making.

We are therefore delighted that Professor Chris Cowton, Professor of Financial Ethics at Huddersfield Business School, has agreed to join our team as Associate Director (Research) from 2nd September.

Philippa Foster Back CBE, Director of the IBE said: “I am looking forward to working with Chris as the IBE seeks to augment our highly regarded research and publication programme. His knowledge, experience and academic rigour will help us continue to promote valuable discussion around standards of business behaviour and share practical guidance with organisations wishing to advance the effectiveness of their ethics policies and programmes.”

Commenting on his appointment, Chris said: “I have long admired the work of the IBE and have been honoured to serve as a trustee. I am therefore thrilled to be joining the staff, to work with such excellent colleagues and the IBE’s subscribers in promoting ethical business.”

David Grayson, Chair of IBE Trustees said: “I am delighted that Professor Chris Cowton will be joining the senior leadership of IBE. As we ratchet up our drive to get ethics and values at the heart of a sustainable culture and understood to be fundamental to long-term business success, Chris brings a range of experiences and commitment to rigorous and relevant research.”
