Historics encourages vigorous bidding on this fine motor car
A supremely elegant 1987 Bentley 8 will take its place amongst 150+ other fine classic car consignments at the Historics at Brooklands auction in Surrey on Saturday, June 7th.
Significantly, this much-loved and well-travelled Bentley - presented in fine condition inside and out - is offered at No Reserve, with all proceeds from the sale donated to charity at the request of the vendor, plus Historics’ sellers and buyers commissions.
Whilst the Historics auction catalogue was being prepared came the sad news from the vendor that his sister Lucy had passed away following a three-year battle against liver cancer. She was 42 and leaves behind a nine-year old daughter.
Lucy had been given just weeks to live in 2011, but with the aid of the extraordinary work of the research charity, Cancer Vaccine Institute, she enjoyed a good quality of life for a further 2½ years.
Professor Angus Dalgleish and the team at CVI rely on donations alone. All funds therefore from the sale of this Bentley on Saturday June 7th, will be donated to the Cancer Vaccine Institute. Further donations are encouraged, and can be made through their website, http://www.cancervaccine.org.uk/donate.html.

About The Cancer Vaccine Institute
The Cancer Vaccine Institute (CVI) funds research into the use of vaccines for the treatment of cancer. Our vision is that cancer vaccines will become a standard treatment and improve survival rates and patients’ quality of life for a wide range of cancers. We are a small charity, which has to work hard to raise the £600,000 needed each year to continue our research work. All our income comes from voluntary sources. www.cancervaccine.org.uk/
About Historics at Brooklands
The independent auction house, Historics at Brooklands was established in March 2010, by private investors, to provide a highly-knowledgeable and professional resource for the sale and purchase of fine quality classic and collector cars and motorcycles.
All staff are highly experienced within the classic car sector, and are themselves classic car owners and enthusiasts.
With a permanent home at the evocative venue, Brooklands Museum, but independent in ownership, Historics has hosted16 auctions to date, including a rare ‘white glove’ sale of a 56-strong collection of American classics from the film ‘Captain America – The First Avenger’. The first auction of 2012 saw Historics present over 100 vehicles at a new winter sale home at Mercedes-Benz World.
In October 2012 Historics opened a second regional office near Devizes, to better service customers located in the south west of England and Wales.
www.honestjohn.co.uk awarded Historics a HAT (Highly Approved Trader) Award in November 2012, and repeated the accolade in 2013. The annual HAT Awards recognise best practice within the UK motor trade, and promote fairness to consumers. Historics is the first classic car auctioneer to receive this award, and unique in being awarded it twice in consecutive years.
