Ring of Peace has partnered with new72media to deliver the Portal of Peace 24-hour free webinar, dedicated to promoting peace and bringing together healers, visionaries, speakers and hope builders from all nations. The webinar starts at 00.00 Pacific Daylight Time on 21st September, the UN International Day of Peace, and runs in parallel with the Ring of Peace sending a Message of Peace around the world. During the webinar, this year’s message will be passed like a relay baton from one speaker to the next.

The Ring of Peace was founded as a voluntary project by Robin Dunseath in 2014, who wanted to encourage positive communication and the sharing of peaceful sentiments. An open entry competition is held to select a message of peace. The winning message is then shared between Messengers until it completes a Ring around the entire globe. This year’s competition was launched by Ring of Peace co-founder Peter Ferris in Cannes during the film festival,.

Since its inception the Ring has grown annually. This year there is involvement and support from Microsoft Sway and its 250 participating schools, as well as the Climate Action Project, supported by the Dalai Lama, with participation from a further 250 schools. The Ring welcomes messengers from all the students, teachers and parents. This year’s message will also pass between many Global Teacher Ambassadors for the Varkey Foundation. Thus far, participating countries include: Saudi Arabia, Germany, Argentina, USA, Palestine, Mexico, Kenya, Pakistan, Paraguay, Afghanistan, Oman, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, England Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, The Republic of Ireland, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Jersey, Turkey, Egypt, Namibia, South Africa, India, Singapore, Thailand, Belgium, Vietnam, New Zealand, and Australia.

Former students of Italia Conti, the oldest stage school in the world, will also act as messengers. A group of North American life coaches will form a smaller Ringlet and share their own message of peace to honour the memory of Mary Dunseath, founder Robin Dunseath’s late wife, who inspired and encouraged him to start the Ring.

Robin Dunseath said, “The Ring of Peace gives the people of the world the chance to voice their desire for world peace. From a very small beginning in 2014, it has expanded throughout the world at an astonishing speed, and our aim is to have 1000 messengers in 50 countries to pass our message of peace, one to the next one, around the world in a 24 hour period.”

The quaint village of Harmston, where the Ring of Peace was originally born, played host to the start of this year’s Ring. The message was initially broadcasted on Siren Radio and has already passed around the county of Lincolnshire, with messengers including the Bishop of Grantham and the multi-faith Chaplaincy Co-Ordinator at the University of Lincoln. On the 21st September, this Ringlet will culminate with the presentation of an honours board commemorating the Harmston villagers who served in World War II, which will be unveiled by Katie Childs, Head of Partnership and Stakeholder Relations at the Imperial War Museums.
