Bookmakers are trembling on the eve of what could be another wipeout weekend in the Barclays Premier League.

"Last weekend was the worst the industry has suffered since Frankie Dettori rode seven winners at Ascot back in 1996," said Rob Hartnett, Chairman of Betbright.com who was at Ascot that day.

"The memory is very vivid of watching something unfold that could not happen. It was the day the bettors bit back and January so far has proven to be a feast for the betting public as well."

"Arsenal to beat Fulham, Man City to beat Cardiff and Liverpool to beat Aston Villa would return a 60% profit on a treble with Betbright on Saturday."

"Add Chelsea to beat Man United on Sunday and Everton to beat West Brom on Monday night and you are looking at odds of 5/1 about a combination of bets that backers are really latching onto."

"Normally we would expect the top 5 teams to win 60% of their matches. Since the start of December that number is over 70% and in January they have won over 80%"

"Allied to 40% of winning favourites in horse racing, against a norm of only 30% and it adds up to a nervous weekend for the betting business."

"We do realise of course that we will not get much sympathy."

Backers of Manchester United have been active in the betting markets today with David Moyes' side backed down from 1.75 to 1.69 on Betbright to leave the Stadium of Light this evening with a Capital One advantage.

"It's been a rough time for fans and bettors used to winning every game," said Betbright spokesman Brian Farrell. "They got burned again at home to Swansea on Sunday but the feeling seems strong that they will come good tonight."

United are second favourites behind Neighbours Man City to lift the Capital One Cup and give the new manager a trophy in his first season.

Betbright odds to win the Capital One Cup

1.85 Man City
2.50 Man United
11.0 Sunderland

<![CDATA[ Shropshire Punter Lives The Magic of the FA Cup ]]> https://pressat.co.uk/releases/shropshire-punter-lives-the-magic-of-the-fa-cup-6cf93d1c5d2da1ba1fd35f8109e906aa/ https://pressat.co.uk/releases/shropshire-punter-lives-the-magic-of-the-fa-cup-6cf93d1c5d2da1ba1fd35f8109e906aa/ Tuesday 7 January, 2014
A 50 pence bet on a string of FA Cup results on Sunday produced a £14,000 payout for a Shropshire based customer of betbright.com. He combined Swansea beating Man United 2-1, Chelsea beating Derby 2-0, Sunderland seeing off Carlisle by 3-1 and Pymouth to draw 2-2 with Port Vale.

Those results were enough to secure the bumper payout from his Lucky 31 bet, but if Liverpool had scored one more goal at home to Oldham the win would have smashed through £100,000 as that was the fifth of his forecasts on a day that most bettors only ever dream of.

"El Hadji Ba's third for Sunderland came in injury time so this was really down to the wire but fair play to our intrepid backer, it was some achievement," said Betbright spokesman Brian Farrell. "We will be watching out for his selections in the fourth round, and with 2014 being a World Cup Year, who knows we may have England's answer to that German Octopus from the 2010 tournament.

Betbright betting on who will win the FA Cup 2014:

5.0 Chelsea, Man City
5.5 Arsenal
6.0 Liverpool
8.4 Everton
15.0 Southampton
30.0 Sunderland
40.0 Swansea, Cardiff
50.0 or bigger the rest

Betbright.com has introduced a new simple display of it's most popular betting markets on the Barclays Premier League and other major tournaments.

"We were asked by a customer if it was possible to show the match odds, whether both teams would score and whether there would be plenty of goals in a game or not," said Betbright Marketing Director Brian Farrell.

"Because we built our own betting system we were able to turn that request around in only ten days."

Betbright is looking to gain market share from bigger rivals based on the smart ways it can react to market demands. It has been active on football, racing and other sports markets since August and has so far attracted over 10,000 active customers.

** Betting HotSpot for the weekend **

Liverpool have scored four goals or more in each of their last four games at Anfield. The odds on them beating Cardiff on Saturday are as low as 1.22 but they can be backed on Betbright.com to win by three or more goals at odds of 2.30.
